First Generation Scholars Program at U of Calgary 

  • This is a holistic program designed to help from orientation to graduation, and offers a robust suite of support services including mentorship, advising and networking opportunities.
  • It also includes $2,500 in financial support for incoming first-generation students who begin their studies in the fall of 2024
  • Students entering the U of C for the first time who are the first in their families to attend post-secondary education are the focus of this award

Applicants need to be attending a post-secondary school in Canada and they could be preparing for their first year or continuing in a program.

Pathways to Medicine Scholarship at Cumming School of Medicine (U of C)

This award is open to students who have applied to the U of C and been accepted to any undergraduate program.  It includes some benefits in your application to medical school and a financial award of $5000 per year for four years (and other perks).

Stampede Grade 12 Western Art Scholarships 

Students in Grade 12 are invited to enter Western themed artwork. Winners may use scholarships for post-secondary education in the field of their choice. Three scholarships are awarded to students attending High School in Southern Alberta.

Students who have applied to the U of L and started their Bridge Student Portal can access a number of scholarship applications.

Horatio Alger  Vocational and Technical Education Scholarship 

Eligibility is based on several criteria including acceptance into a program that is 3 years of less, be graduating High School by July 1 and be less than 35 years old.  Additionally their is a family income threshold and the 25 awards of $3000 usually go to students who have overcome some adversity in their lives.  This award also lists Canadian Citizenship as a requirement
